Series Preview: The I-94 "Rivalry" Continues (Cubs @ Brewers)

CubsBrewersChicago Cubs (19-32, 5th in NL Central) at Milwaukee Brewers (32-22, 1st in NL Central)

All-Time Series: 134-126 Brewers (70-61 at home)

Season Series: 3-3

Probables:
Friday: Travis Wood (5-4, 4.35 ERA) vs. Marco Estrada (4-2. 3.98)
Saturday: Jason Hammel (5-3. 3.08) vs. Wily Peralta (4-4. 2.12)
Sunday: Jeff Samardzjia (1-4, 1.68) vs. Kyle Lohse (6-1, 2.92)

Looking Back:
The Brewers took two of three in a roller coaster series with the visiting Baltimore Orioles. The Crew had large leads early in all three games, blew or nearly blew all of them, but were able to survive to take the series.

The Cubs dropped a three game set against the NL West leading San Francisco Giants. They were able to put eight runs on the board in support of Jeff Samardzija's first win of the year on Memorial Day, but were then shut out in consecutive games.

EdensWho's Hot:
-Khris Davis: Khrush shrugged off an ice-cold start and death threats to have the best week of his young career: 11-23 with four home runs and a .553 on-base percentage. Never doubted him for a second.
-Mallory Edens
-Carlos Gomez: GoGo had a week just as sizzling as Davis', you just didn't notice because he's been doing it all year. He's got hits in 12 of his last 24 at bats and lead the Brewers with seven RBI during that stretch to go along with three steals.

News and Notes:
-In case you hadn't heard, Jim Henderson suffered a setback in his recovery from shoulder inflammation and is not expected back anytime soon. Aramis Ramirez, however, is progressing and could go on a rehab assignment in Appleton this weekend with an eye toward returning next week. UPDATE: Andrew Gruman tweeted that Ramirez with play Sunday and Monday with the T-Rats.
-Tom Gorzelanny's rehab continues with AAA Nashville. There is not yet a timetable for his return.
